The Country Living Fair in Columbus, Ohio

My husband and I had a fun time at the Fair last weekend. Next year, I really want to spend the entire weekend!
I was only able to go to three demonstrations. The first one was RePurpose with Cari Cucksey. She is on HGTV Cash & Cari RePurpose Cash & Cari. She talked about repurposing items from her grandparents home before they had an estate sale.
The second one was Wood Finishing Made Easy with Mark Wilgen from Rust-Oleum. He demonstrated how to use their stains. I was hoping for Cabinet and Countertop Transformations Rust-Oleum Transformations demo, I went to their booth to check it out. Pretty neat stuff.
The last one was Repurpose Vintage Textiles into Wearable Art with Melody Doyel of Melody Elizabeth & Earth Angels. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this demo and I was pleasantly surprised. She was entertaining plus informative at the same time. She scrounges thrift stores and garage sales for clothing, fiberart, etc. to make bags, clutches, totes, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces out of repurposed textiles and trims. For example, she may purchase an old leather jacket which she takes apart. From this point she considers this “yardgoods” and no long a piece of clothing. She will next design a tote bag still keeping the elements from the jacket like the pockets, buttons and button holes, or the zippered front. She tries to use every scrap from that one piece. She also said she will use framed fiberart like cross stitched, crewel embroidery etc. to make her “fashion treasures”. Check out the link Earth Angels Studios for more information.
I didn't get to visit too many booths because of the crowd. Again, that is why next year I want to go for all three days, preferably with my like-minded girl friends ☺
